1. Accessibility requirements and applicable criteria
The requirements for digital accessibility are set out by Legislative Decree of May 27, 2022, no. 82 “Implementation of Directive (EU) 2019/882 of the European Parliament and of the Council of April 17, 2019, on the accessibility requirements for products and services”, which refers to the UNI EN 301549 standard for technical aspects.
Specifically, website compliance must be assessed against the criteria outlined in Chapters 9 “Web” and 10 “Non-web content”, which refer to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level A+AA.
The four core principles of digital accessibility, as defined by WCAG 2.1, are:
- Perceivable – Content is presented clearly and understandably.
- Operable – The interface is easily navigable by all users.
- Understandable – Information and operations are intuitive and easy to interpret.
- Robust – The site is compatible with the most common assistive technologies.
Referring to the aforementioned UNI EN 301549 standard, which clearly lists the 50 success criteria to verify website accessibility, technical analyses have been carried out on the site's content, including textual and non-textual information, downloadable documents and forms, and forms of two-way interaction, such as digital form processing and the completion of authentication, identification, and payment processes.
Areas excluded from application
Article 1, paragraph 5 of Legislative Decree no. 82/2022 states that the provisions of the decree do not apply to the following website content and mobile applications:
- pre-recorded time-based media published before June 28, 2025;
- office file formats published before June 28, 2025;
- online maps and mapping services, provided that essential information for navigation is made available in an accessible digital format;
- third-party content that is neither funded nor developed by the relevant economic operator, nor under its control;
- website and mobile app content considered as archives, meaning content that has not been updated or modified after June 28, 2025.
2. General description of the service
This site is intended for end consumers and offers a sales service for the Crime London brand, allowing users to discover, select, and purchase men’s and women’s products from the company.
Users can explore the site using filters, add items to their cart or wishlist, register to access their personal area, and manage orders, returns, and personal details. In addition to providing a full purchase flow, the site also allows users to buy a gift card, subscribe to the newsletter, consult customer service, and contact the company.
3. How the service works
The website is accessible from desktop, tablet, and smartphone devices using the main web browsers currently available and is offered in both Italian and English.
Site navigation is designed to be intuitive and consistent, through a main menu that allows direct access to key sections (men, women, accessories, collections, promotions).
Below is an overview of how the site’s main services work:
- viewing products: users can browse the available products by accessing the menu sections divided by women, men, accessories, and collections, and selecting the desired product type from the dropdown menu.
- adding products to favorites: users can save products by clicking the dedicated icon in the preview or “Add to wishlist” on the product page. All items added to favorites are visible on the “Wishlist” page, accessible from the menu. From there, they can be added to the cart or removed.
- making a purchase: users can purchase desired products by selecting the item and clicking “add to cart” on the product page after selecting the size. Products can also be added from the preview screen by clicking the dedicated icon, selecting the size, and then clicking the button. To proceed to checkout, the user clicks the cart icon, continues to the checkout screen, logs in or enters their data without registering, and selects a payment method. After completing all fields, the order can be submitted and the purchase finalized.
- purchasing a gift card: users can buy a gift card by accessing the dedicated menu item. On the page, they fill out a short form with the necessary information and add the voucher to the cart. The purchase process then continues like any other product.
- accessing the reserved area: the website allows users to register and access their personal area by selecting the appropriate option from the header menu. By entering the required information on the dedicated pages, users can log in or create an account.
- requesting a return: returns can be requested by both registered and unregistered users. Simply access the “Request a return” section from the menu and complete the dedicated form. Registered users can also submit requests from their reserved area.
- browsing via search: users can directly search for a product by entering a keyword in the search bar located at the top of the page (header).
- browsing via filters: on product pages, users can refine their search using various types of filters.
- requesting information: users can request information via email, phone, or by filling out a form. Contact details are available on the “Contact” page accessible from the footer menu.
- consulting customer service: users can access a FAQ page dedicated to customer service by clicking the appropriate menu item located in the hamburger menu in the header.
- subscribing to the newsletter: users can subscribe to the newsletter by entering their email address in the dedicated area in the homepage footer and confirming via the “register now” button.
4. Fulfillment of Accessibility Requirements
To improve accessibility and user experience, FFW S.r.l. has integrated the UserWay PRO accessibility widget into the website covered by this statement. Its use by website users is completely free and helps enhance the website’s compliance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1).
UserWay PRO provides multiple features for improving both website accessibility and user experience, accessible via a dedicated panel by clicking on the widget icon or using the keyboard shortcut CTRL+U, as listed below.
- Screen Reader: reads all page content aloud without the need to install an external screen reader.
- Dictionary: allows access to dictionaries without leaving the website. Essential for users with cognitive disabilities, non-native English speakers, and more.
- Larger Text: increases text size on the screen with four different levels, making every part of the site easier to read.
- Saturation: adjusts the color intensity of a site to high, low, or grayscale.
- Contrast: inverts website colors or switches between light and dark contrast modes.
- Smart Contrast: ensures that all site colors fully comply with ADA standards, improving content visibility.
- Highlight Links: highlights links, buttons, and other clickable interactive elements with bright, high-contrast colors, improving usability, navigation, and overall accessibility.
- Pause Animations: stops automatically moving or updating content, which can be a barrier to accessibility, and halts flashing content that may distract or trigger seizures.
- Text Spacing: adjusts text spacing and line height to improve readability for users with dyslexia and low vision, offering three levels of adjustment for a more personalized and accessible reading experience.
- Line Height: increases line height for more comfortable text spacing throughout the site.
- Text Alignment: aligns site text to the left, right, or center for a more personalized and accessible reading experience.
- Dyslexia-Friendly Font: the “UserWay Dyslexia Friendly” font improves readability and offers a smoother, more accessible reading experience for users with dyslexia.
- Large Cursor: increases the default cursor size by 400%, making it easier to see. Enhances accessible navigation through links, tabs, and form elements.
- Tooltips: displays alt text and ARIA labels for on-screen elements with a simple mouse hover. The tooltips are clearly visible, high contrast, and easy to read for visually impaired users.
- Page Structure: quickly reveals page headings, landmarks, and links in a clear, structured, easily navigable and accessible format. Helps both disabled and non-disabled users find content more efficiently.
In addition to the features users can activate from the accessibility menu, the UserWay PRO widget can detect many non-compliances on the site and apply real-time corrections without modifying the source code—only what is rendered in the browser. This makes the website more accessible to all users, including those using assistive technologies.
Web content accessibility for users of assistive technologies, such as screen readers, alternative keyboards, or voice commands, is further supported by the use of ARIA attributes, which help describe the role, state, and properties of user interface elements, communicate dynamic interactions (e.g., expandable menus, modals, sliders) to screen readers, and support keyboard navigation in complex components.
